The Inductive Method

1)          Inductive Method – Summing up the result of

1a)     All facts are reported; a conclusion

1b)     Facts of truth harmonize when a body of evidence is analyzed.

1c)          Induce – Analyze –

1d)     Jesus used the inductive method to teach

1e)     The devil quoted the scriptures out of context

1f)     Men ASSERT without evidence; unproven statements as truth.

 

2)       Law of Analogy –

2a)          Harmony is the first

2b)     It is IMPOSSIBLE for contradiction to exist where

 

3)       All facts must be reported and allowed

3a)     All facts that are attainable ( Some facts may not be accessible).

3b)     It is a great privilege to now have all the revelation from God!!

 

4)          Inference  (Implication) may be used legitimately in the

 

4a)     A logical effort to know facts (NOT

4b)          Associating ALL facts and logically tying them together to reach logical conclusions.

4c)     Did the New Testament church partake of the Lord’s supper EVERY first day of the week? (What verse explicitly states this fact?)

4d)     Acts 20:7; I Cor.16:1-2;

 

5)          BIBLE assumptions are equal to

5a)     Anything God takes for granted is

5b)          Gen.1:1 – Did God Exist?

5c)     Acts 17:30 – Does man have the ability to repent?

 

5d)          **Caution – Do not be mistaken as to what God has assumed!

5e)     Acts 17:30 – “everywhere”

 

6)       When one speaks of a result that is COMMONLY attributed to several causes, though NO cause is listed, -- It is

6a)     Plan of salvation according to Jesus

          John 8:24 – Believe in Him

          Matt.10:32-33 – Confess Him

          Luke 13:3 – Repent of sin

          Mark 16:16 – Be baptized

          Rev.2:10 – Live faithfully

6b)     Acts 2 – Did the people confess faith in Jesus as the Christ? ( it is stated that they Repented and were Baptized; it is implied that they believed, receiving the word;

 

6c)     Acts 8 – Samaritans – Did they Repent? They Believed and obeyed – vs.12.

 

7)          Religious truth may be gathered from approved precedent.

7a)     We learn from example by authorized (right) conduct of men led by the Holy Spirit

7b)     **IF the will of God has not changed (it has not); then what WAS His will IS His will now!

7c)     To be religiously RIGHT we must be

          A)          NO ONE can be religiously Right and

 

          B)          NO One can be religiously WRONG and

 

          C)          No One can be TAUGHT wrong and

 

7d)          **Caution

          A)          The inspired men were not inspired all the time

 

          B)          Know the difference in PRECEDENT and INCIDENT or ACIDENT

          B1)          (PRECEDENT – approved example done under the eyes of an Apostle –

          B2)          (INCIDENT – NOT germane to the event –

 

          C)          People of the first century did not do everything

 

 

8)       Know the author’s purpose

8a)          Writing is a purpose driven result

 

9)          CAUSES = that which upon ALL facts agree

9a)     IF any fact denies it – then

9b)          Investigate the evidence; align the facts; find the cause / s

 

10)     Do NOT reject a cause for want of PHILOSOPHY when a MIRACLE is present.

10a)   ONE single divine statement settles any controversy on which it speaks.

10c)   II Kgs.5 – Naaman

 

11)          Contrary or Negative facts may be used to establish truth.

11a)   Mark 16:16 – Believeth NOT = Believe / Luke 13:3 – Except you repent = REPENT

11b)          WRONG use – Heb.11:6 – w/o faith it is impossible to please God //

 

12)     To find the cause/s list all the facts in order of intensity

12a)          Reasoning from the cause to the effect; then from the effect to the cause.

12b)          **Caution – watch that NO modifying forces are introduced.

12c)   Small amount of medicine gives small positive result; greater amount gives greater result; this medicine only has this effect on one kind of illness; therefore the illness is identified.

12d)          Greater worship attendance and participation causes one to become stronger in faith; Full attendance and participation causes one to become strongest in faith (all things being equal).

 

13)     A PARTICULAR fact cannot be derived from a GENERAL statement when other than the cause mentioned can cause the result.
