Syllabus: Zephaniah - Malachi

I. COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Textbook: King James Version of the Bible.

2. All reading and memory work assignments are to be completed before class begins.

3. Daily quizzes over the previous lecture, reading assignments, and memory work will be given and are due on Tuesday following the class session. (An additional 10% will be deducted from the grade for late quizzes.)

4. There will only be one major comprehensive test given the last day of class.

5. A one page sermon and/or Bible class outline is to be completed from each book. This can be (A) a comprehensive study of the book as a whole, (B) lessons from a verse or group of verses, or (C) lessons from major themes within the book. These are due one week after each book is completed.

II. COURSE GRADING:

1. Memory work and reading assignments will account for 20% of the final grade.

2. Daily quizzes will account for 20% of the final grade.

3. Sermon and/or Bible class outline will account for 25% of the final grade.

4. The Final test will account for 35% of the final grade.

III. COURSE SCHEDULE:

Classes meet each Saturday for 18 weeks beginning the first Saturday in August through the third Saturday in December with the exception of two breaks.  The breaks will be on the Saturday of the third full week in September and the Saturday following Thanksgiving. Each Saturday will consist of one fifty minute session which meets from 4:00 - 4:50 PM CTZ.  

  1. Introduction to Zephaniah and chapter 1.
  2.  Zephaniah chapter 2.
  3.  Zephaniah chapter 3.
  4.  Introduction to Haggai and chapters 1-2 (Zephaniah outline due).
  5.  Haggai chapters 1-2.
  6.  Introduction to Zachariah and chapter 1 (Haggai outline due)..
  7.  Zachariah chapters 1-2.
  8.  Zachariah chapters 3-4.
  9.  Zachariah chapters 4-5.
10. Zachariah chapters 6-7.
11. Zachariah chapters 7-8.
12. Zachariah chapters 9-10.
13. Zachariah chapters 10-11.
14. Zachariah chapters 12-13.
15. Zachariah chapters 13-14.
16. Introduction to Malachi and chapter 1 (Zachariah outline due).
17. Malachi chapters 1-2.
18. Malachi chapters 3-4 and Final Test (Malachi outline due).
