
Syllabus - Joshua Judges Ruth
I. COURSE DESCRIPTION
- A detailed study of the history of the Hebrews from the death of Moses to Samuel the prophet and judge.
- We will look into the history of faithfulness through the book of Joshua. We will understand the importance of deliverance from sin by the study of Judges. Our course will conclude by a study of the book of Ruth and its application to Christ and His church.
II. COURSE OBJECTIVE
- Trace the conquest and settlement of the land of promise.
- Discuss the lives of prominent Bible characters and the judges during this age.
- Study the relevant lessons for the church today.
- Highlight those events that tie into God’s plan of redemption.
- Read each book three times.
III. TEXTS
- Holy Bible: King James Version or the 1901 American Standard Version
- The Heart of Hebrew History – H.I. Hester (pages 137-162)
- The Story Of The Bible – Johnny Ramsey – Editor assisted by several contributors.
IV. GRADING
- Attendance
- Reading each book three times.
- Six Exams
- Five Sermon Outlines (two from Joshua, two from Judges and one from Ruth)
- One Paper (2000 words on a pre-selected topic and due during the last week of the semester.)
- The final grade will be an accumulation of points divided by a percentage for a final letter grade and a percentage.
