Samuel, Kings and Chronicles

I. COURSE DESCRIPTION

  • A detailed study of the history of the establishment and development of the monarchy in Israel.

Ii. COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Trace the historical development of the monarchy during both the United Kingdom and Divided Kingdom Periods.

  • Discuss the lives of prominent Bible characters during this age.

  • Detail relevant lessons for the church today.

  • Note those events that tie into God’s plan of redemption.

  • Read each book three times during the semester.

III. Texts

  • Holy Bible, King James Version or the 1901 American Standard Version
  • The Heart Of Hebrew History - H. I. Hester
  • The Story Of The Bible - Johnny Ramsey - Editor assisted by several contributors.

iv. grading

  • Six exams (one on each book)

  • One paper

2000 words
On a pre-selected topic
Due during the last week of the semester

  • Six sermon outlines (one from each book)

  • The reading of each book three times

  • Attendance

  • The final grade will be an accumulation of points divided by a percentage for a final letter grade and a percentage.
