(PLEASE TAKE NOTES! Skeletal Outline from Eugene Jenkins.) ADAM & EVE None of us have met Adam & Eve, but we all know them. Adam was the first man; created from the dust of the fround; "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul" (Genesis 2:7). Eve was the first woman; created from man (a rib taken from Adam); "And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man" (Genesis 2:21, 22). Eve was made, and given to Adam because it was, "...not good that the man should be alone..." (Genesis 2: 18), and to be a "...help meet for him" (Genesis 2:18, 20). The two of them, having been made for one another, joined together as one (Genesis 2:23, 24). Having been given control over all creation, they then went about their lives and work (Genesis 1:29, 30; 2:15. Many, many years later, Paul stressed the need to learn from the scriptural record given to us by inspiration (Romans 15:4; 1 Corinthians 10:11). Desiring to be pleasing to God, let us consider some of the lessons taught by the "first human couple."
