Revelation
Instructor: John Shafer

PURPOSE:
To make an in-depth study of the book of Revelation
To study each text in Revelation in order to demonstrate how it promotes a better "day" for those Christians undergoing Roman persecution
To confirm the sovereignty of God (He rules the nations)
To impress persecuted Christians with the need to overcome

TEXTBOOKS:
Bible (ASV or KJV)
Optional: Any good conservative commentary on Revelation. The following are recommended:
Revelation - An Introduction and Commentary by Homer Hailey
The Spiritual Sword - Volume 29, Number 1, October 1997. Theme: "Letters To The Seven Churches." Editor Alan E. Highers
Worthy Is The Lamb by Ray Summers

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
Read the entire book of Revelation twice
Complete all memory work (explained below)
Complete all tests

MEMORY WORK:
Memory Verses must come from the ASV or KJV
All verses must be typed at one sitting and then emailed to me. You may study more and start over if you make a mistake, but you must still start again from the beginning and write all the verses at one sitting.
For this course the following verses must be memorized: Revelation 1:3; 14;13; 16:15; 19:9; 20:6; 22:7; 22:14

COURSE SCHEDULE:
Classes meet each Saturday for a total of 18 weeks. Two breaks total will be taken after six weeks of consecutive classes over the course of the semester. Each Saturday will consist of two fifty minute classes with a ten minute break between, meeting at: 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM CTZ.
