Samuel, Kings & Chronicles

PURPOSE:
A detailed study of the history, the establishment and development of the monarchy in Israel
Tracing the historical development of the monarchy during both the United Kingdom and Divided Kingdom periods
Discuss the lives of prominent Bible characters during this age
Detail relevant lessons for the church today
Note those events that tie into God's plan of redemption
TEXTBOOKS:
Holy Bible, King James Version or the 1901 American Standard Version
The Heart Of Hebrew History – H. I. Hester (pg. 163-246)

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
Reading each of the six books of the Bible (Samuel, Kings, Chronicles) at least three times during the semester
Reading all assigned outside reading from Hester book
Attendance at all classes, or excused absence from the director
TESTS AND ASSIGNMENTS:
Six exams (one on each book)
Six sermon outlines (one from each book)
One term paper consisting of at least 2,000 words on a pre-approved topic which will be due the last week of the semester
COURSE GRADING:
Six exams (one on each book)
Six sermon outlines (one from each book)
The final grade will be an accumulation of points from all reading assignments, exams, sermon outlines, and term paper divided by a percentage for a final letter grade and a percentage
COURSE SCHEDULE:
Classes meet each Saturday for 18 sessions at 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM CTZ. Each class will be 50 minutes in length with a 10 minute break between classes. Two breaks total will be taken after six weeks of consecutive classes over the course of the semester.
