PURPOSE:
The purpose of this class is to provide a solid background and understanding of the events found in the books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy

COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND ASSIGNMENTS:
Reading Assignments. You are required to read Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy in its entirety.
Reading Assignments. Each student is required to read the James Smith commentary on The Pentateuch in its entirety.
Course Questions. Questions will be given out throughout the course. Please pay special attention to when each of these are due.
Questions 1-50 due on 1.13.23
Questions 51-100 due on 1.27.23
Questions 101-150 due on 2.10.23
Questions 151-200 due on 3.3.23
Questions 201-250 due on 3.17.23

Class Summaries. Please type in an email of about 200 words what was covered in the class each week. This must be turned in before the next class.
Sermon/Bible Class Outlines. You will need to develop 3 outlines for either a sermon or Bible Class. These must come from the Pentateuch. They are to be no less than 1 page and no more than 3 pages in length.

Overview Of The Pentateuch Paper. You will need to write a paper of no less than 5 pages giving an overview of Genesis through Deuteronomy. The main purpose of this paper is to be able to tell me/or anyone else what happens in each of the books in a chronological fashion from Creation to the Death of Moses. Details is the key to writing a good paper. Guidelines for the papers: 1) 12 point font of either Arial or Times New Roman. 2) Double spaced. 3) 1 inch margins. 4) Cover page. THIS PAPER WILL BE DUE ON 5.26.23!
It is recommended that you keep a notebook of notes, handouts, papers, and all coursework
Please follow assignment requirements and due dates of assignments. Not doing or turning in assignments on due dates will result in a "0" for the grade. If you see that you are not going to be able to complete the assignment on time, please email me immediately so we can work out an arrangement.
COURSE GRADING:
Course Questions will be worth 450 pts (30% of grade)
Class Summaries will be worth 180 pts. (12% of grade)
Sermon/Class Outlines will be worth 300 pts. (20% of grade)
Overview of the Pentateuch Paper 570 pts. (38% of grade)
Total Points: 1500 pts.
COURSE SCHEDULE:
Classes meet each Saturday for 18 sessions at 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM CTZ. Each class will be 50 minutes in length with a 10-minute break between classes. There will be a one week break after each six consecutive weeks of class during the course of the semester.
