The Pentateuch

Class Meets: Classes meet each Saturday for 18 sessions at 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM CTZ. Each
class will be 50 minutes in length with a 10-minute break between classes.
Class Breaks: Class will not meet on the following dates: February 17th and April 13th
PURPOSE:
This course is designed to be a comprehensive course of the first five books of the Bible, otherwise known as the Pentateuch or Law of Moses.
TEXTBOOKS:
The King James Version (preferred) or American Standard Bible (1901)
*Note* - we will lean heavily upon the structure of “The Pentateuch” written by James A. Smith and published by College Press but it is not necessary for the student to purchase a copy.
TESTS AND ASSIGNMENTS:
Periodic quizzes will be assigned in the Google Classroom platform during the course.
A midterm and final exam should be expected.
There will be four essays assigned during this course.
Students are expected to maintain a notebook for this course.

Isaac to Joseph
Exodus: the birth of Israel
Moses to the Mount
Israel to the land of promise

Leviticus: a study of holiness
In the offerings to God
In the priest of God
In the purity of the people
In the obligation of the people
In the worship of the people
Numbers: a study of divine directive
A declaration of God’s absolute
A discourse of rejection
A record of rebellion
A declaration of renewal
Deuteronomy: the covenant restored
Moses final discourse with Israel
God’s new man
A revived nation
A glorious opportunity
READING AND MEMORY WORK SCHEDULE:
There will be thirty-six sessions over a period of eighteen weeks. The sessions will be held from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM and 2:00 PM to 2:50 PM CTZ each Saturday.
Each student will be expected to read the five books of the Pentateuch (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy) at least three times in their entirety.
Will be assigned memory verses during this course not to exceed two per week.
ATTENDANCE:
Please refer to the OABS attendance and tardiness policy.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Use the Goggle Classroom portal for all interaction with the instructor. All course materials will be submitted through the portal. All tests and writing assignments will be administered and graded in the portal.
